| Elisabeth Luard: tea and cakes at Acorn Acorn Wholefood Restaurant was the venue on 5th December for a talk by acclaimed cookery writer Elisabeth Luard. The room was packed with people who had come to hear Elisabeth talk about her fascinating life and her stunning new book, 'A Cook's Year in a Welsh Farmhouse'. She held the audience entranced for over an hour, before tea and coffee was served - accompanied by scrumptious samples of Elisabeth's baking: rich chocolate cake, bara brith, and welsh cakes. She answered questions, passed around copies of her sketch books, and signed books as the room filled with appreciative "Mmmmmms" and "Aaahhhhs" from delighted eaters. In fact her talk was so interesting that I was riveted to her every word and forgot to take any photographs to display on the website!
We very much hope to welcome Elisabeth back again when Bloomsbury reprint her memoirs - her life story was far too interesting to cram it all into the couple of hours she was here. |
