| Ian Marchant Author Event We named the event The Castle Crawl and it involved a vintage bus taking fans to the The Three Tuns Pub in Bishops Castle in Shropshire (two of the watering holes mentioned in Ian's book are in this small town, The Three Tuns being one of the oldest breweries in England).
"These days, The Castle is a hippy town, like a mini-Totnes. Twenty years ago when I first came there with Lily, tumbleweed rolled up the high street. Nothing else moved, except for a skanky dog we saw disappearing down an ally. Then the hippies discovered the Castle and brought it back to life. One of the breweries had survived because Bishops Castle was a forgotten backwater in the unending flood of time. The other brewery had started because the town began to fill up with lively creative people attracted by low property prices. Hippies add value."

The event was superb - loads of people turned up....
We sold lots of books and had a thoroughly fun day out topped off with the author leading a sing song on the bus home... (an old English classic -Bohemian Rhapsody!)
 Chin Chin!
Well done to all who made the event so memorable..
Ian you’re an absolute star!! |
