“Strictly Come Bookselling”: local authors try their hand at bookselling
As part of our Independent Booksellers Week celebrations several local authors called in to Burway Books to meet customers and find out about life on the other side of the counter.
Simon Whaley signed copies of his books and chatted to customers; Anthea Toft read poetry from her charming book “The Mud and the Stars Revisited”; and Dorothy Nicolle popped in to say hello.

On 8th July Shropshire author Kate Long, who wrote number one bestseller “The Bad Mother’s Handbook” and three other novels, spent a day with us. Kate chatted to customers and signed lots of copies of her books as well as learning how to operate the till and order books. She said “I have had a lovely time. It’s so nice to meet people who have read my books and loved them – it justifies everything and makes it all worthwhile.”
