In 2001 Peter Carey travelled to Japan, accompanying his son Charley on a pilgrimage to the land of manga comic books and anime film. In this travelogue Carey charts their journey, as well as his own re-evaluation of Japan through his attempt to understand its culture of animated film and cartoon.
