Hilary Jane Jones and Tracey Swain were at Burway Books on Saturday 25th May to sign copies of ‘The Faerie Glen: Part Two of The Journey’, the eagerly-awaited follow-up to ‘The Wicked Wood’ (our best selling book of 2012).In ‘The Faerie Glen’ Hilary and Tracey again have again combined their talents to produce a stunning photographic fantasy tale in verse and images as ‘The Journey’ continues through more serene and magical landscapes. Tracey’s evocative photographs (many featuring aspects of the Shropshire countryside) tease the imagination and often have hidden secrets, whilst Hilary is able to play with words that complement the images and fire the imagination even more. ‘The Journey’ series has encouraged many people to get outdoors and re-engage with the natural world.
A steady stream of customers – from children to 80+ year olds – came to get their books signed and to chat to Hilary and Tracey about what inspired the story and where the photographs were taken. A magical window display (thanks to Kaboodle for the loan of faerie toadstools etc), special hand-made Faerie Glen scented candles, and a selection of old-fashioned sweets from Sweet Tooth in Church Stretton all helped make the day a special one.
